I met Cyril and Audrey in 2000. They helped us through some hard times. They always welcomed me with open arms no matter what I did or how I defended my family. I've lived in 3 countries and never, ever met people like Cyril and Audrey. I called Cyril Cecil for nearly a year and Audrey used to laugh at me. I never knew why until I was eventually told his name was Cyril. He always gave me time and never turned his back on me, never. This has really hurt and I am still in disbelief that he is gone but he is now with his true love and that's what makes it easier to get through the day. We will always love you and I'll never forget our long conversations. I love you Cyril, Always.
Brett HaddenAfter Terry was born, the family arrived to join us all for the day at Dawlish Warren, on the motorbike and side car. My mum and dad obviously thought this was not a good way to get Aunt Audrey and a small baby home. So my brother and I went in the sidecar and Aunt Audrey and Terry went in our car. On the way home, Uncle Cyril had to stop for petrol and as the eldest child, I was handed Aunt Audrey's purse and asked to sort out the money to pay! Such a responsibility! After that, Uncle Cyril learnt to drive a car. Dad used to take him out in our car for extra practice. When I learnt to drive, Dad said that at least I didn't lean into corners like Uncle Cyril!
Judy WindwoodAlan says he once went out on the back of the motorbike. The memory stays with him!
Lots of memories from childhood as well as more recent ones from visits. It was lovely to see him last year.
There are many funny things that Cyril has said or done over the years I have known him. A long time ago Cyril had a Bull calf, which he had named Eda-bull ,
Bruce HamlynAt one time Cathy and Jenny asked if he would look after their 2 Guinea pigs which we understood to be both female, After they started to multiply he didn't question it, he just added additional room for them to keep multiplying!
He was one of the best and a true family man.
My memories go back a long time as siblings do, i remember when he used to make me slides in the snow, when he wouldn't wear his school cap to school as he hated it, when he used to sit on the front step with his mate in the morning and rush there homework and when Terry accidentally knocked the hand break off on the old green van with all the kids in the back and Gerry and Cyril had to chase after the car and the list goes on.
Wendy BracherMy memories go back a long way and have the good things as siblings do, I remember when he used to make me slides in the snow, never wearing his school cap to school as he hated it, rushing his homework with his mate in the morning on the front step, running after the old green van with Gerry when Terry kicked the hand brake and all the other kids were in the back and the list goes on.
Wendy BracherSue it was so good to have him stay with mum and me for the week were he just loved to sit at the beach and watch all that was going on
