To my dearest Gran, my favorite childhood memories were of time spent with you. A thousand stories to recount, but some special ones -
Danielle McGuinnessThe time you took the three of us camping, we camped on a rather steep incline as it turns out and we all kept rolling out of bed!
Playing out at Scheyville - we roamed like bush kids free and happy - an endless playground.
When the three of us stayed with you we all took turns rotating beds from floor cushions to the most prized - a night in the queen bed with you!
You taught me the lesson of the simple pleasures of life - simple food, laughter, unconditional love, the power of positivity long before it was "fashionable" - you definitely saw the glass as half full!
Being so far away from you the past years has been tough - I could not see you as often as I would have liked, however, I think the frequent phone conversations opened up a new relationship between us - of openess - we didn't small talk but got straight to the heart of things. No subject was taboo. Recently we discussed your death and you seemed very at ease with it - I keep thinking about this now.
I will miss you beyond words, but know that you are somewhere right now in the loving and laughing company of your beloved Mr Sy and the original Twitty!
Forever, Danielle xxxx
My Dearest Granny, I love you so much, you will never be forgotten. I had the best time growing up and visiting you often in Windsor. I remember going to the circus near your place, playing out at Wilberforce, going to the creek down at the golf course and to Stocklands playing in their shed, (that was so much fun, it was like an amusement park to us). If we ever were in trouble, we would have Gran chasing us around with a rolled up newspaper!! I was there every day at the hospital in your final few days and would wake up crying for you in my sleep. How strange it's going to be, not being able to spend hours on the phone too you and visiting you in Windsor. The final chapter has now been closed of an era that I will never forget. Speaking to you in my head when you were in hospital gave me some reassurance that you were at peace. One of the conversations was, Gran, listen to Mr Sy (Silas) when he comes to pick you up on his horse and Chariot", in my head Grans voice said, "Don't be silly Sasha, he's got a ute". We had many conversation over those few days, even a few laughs and that is the way I choose to remember my Granny. She was always positive, happy and her presence would always light up a room. Rest in Peace my Gran, you will be forever loved and missed. xxx
